Wishing for Spring?

These are from last spring/winter

This year, just to see what happens I’ve planted some bush beans in 10″ pots. Plants are about 8″ tall now. I’m going to start some of those tasty goldens pretty soon too. And I finally got some basil to sprout – can’t wait to see if I get anything out of that.

Where Have You Been?

Filed under: Politics — site admin @ 5:10 pm

On Saturday morning, an apparent lone gunman shot Gabrielle Giffords in the head. He then kept firing until he was tackled by two men and disarmed by 61 year old Patricia Maisch. Six people are dead, 19 injured. Sarah Palin’s web site yanked the graphic showing scope sites over Giffords’ district, then said the symbols were ‘surveyor’s marks’. Of course, since surveyor’s marks are completely non-controversial the timing was a total coincidence. Gabrielle spoke out against Sarah Palin and her violent speech in March 2010. Palin is on video saying “don’t retreat, reload.” How can anyone not interpret that as promoting violence? Maybe because her next words are essentially that, “I’m not promoting violence.” Do we believe her? If I may paraphrase, how’s that clinging to guns and religion thing working out for ya?

Now, I cannot say, nor is anyone else seemingly able to say at the moment, that this young man was motivated by Palin or the Tea Party. But let’s get real, the Tea Party and Palin use fear and speech steeped in violence. Drawing Obama as the Joker, calling Obama Hitler, evoking the fear of the cold war enemy of communism and calling for a “second amendment solution” to Harry Reid by Sharon Angell. This is hate, fear and violence and is all done by the Tea Party.

When the right, left and center minds are agreeing to dial back the hate speech, Limpbaugh posts,

“We on the right have led the charge against Congress and the professional political class for noble and obvious reasons. I can’t speak for others who do what I do, but I’m not going to be silenced by this.”

“Unfortunately for the country, we’re learning today that nothing is beneath today’s mainstream media, nothing is beneath the Democrat Party, and nothing is beneath the American left.”

“The first thought that the losers of November had was that they could revitalize their political fortunes because of the unfortunate shooting of a congresswoman from Arizona. That was the most important thing to them, and that, to me, is sick.”

“I’ve seen people say about Gabrielle Giffords, ‘You know, she doesn’t even fit the profile of somebody the Tea Party wouldn’t like.’ I’m not even going to defend that premise. The Tea Party doesn’t run around committing assassinations. The Tea Party doesn’t commit violence, period.”

Giffords voted for health care reform. Tell me the Tea Party doesn’t hate her.

So Rush is telling his listeners that the left, the liberals, the media are “using” the shooting of a member of congress, the death of a nine year old girl, and a federal judge appointed by Bush Sr. and four others to rally the democratic party? I thought he was treated for that drug addiction.

He rushes on,

“What is hate speech in America today? Hate speech is that speech which disagrees with liberalism; hate speech is that speech which disagrees with the policies of the Democrat Party.”

“Folks, I want you to notice the constant effort to demonize conservatism when, in fact, it’s conservatism that is the very foundation of America. Lower taxes, limited government, personal responsibility… that’s about as old-fashioned and traditional as you can get.”

“‘Radical conservative’ is an oxymoron — it’s simply an impossibility — and that’s why the left fears what we are and what we say and why they are trying to shut us up.”

Radical conservatism is David Koresh, Timothy McVeigh, Sarah Palin. Yes, all rational people should fear the hate speech. We should be concerned about lines like, “we cling to our religion and our guns”, “don’t retreat, reload”, “seek our second amendment remedies.”

Do you not see the pattern, Rush? I’m guessing not. Yes, your first amendment right allows you to continue spouting your vitriol, your venomous words. But don’t for one moment think that just by saying that you are not promoting violence makes it so.

Read Rush’s quote for yourself.

I should have read more of Rush before posting. As more proof that the left are insidious liars, Rush reads a posting that has been removed from the Daily Kos. At the end of this transcript he says,

“Have you heard about this anywhere at MSNBC, CBS, NBC, ABC? Heard about this guy anywhere but us? No, you haven’t ’cause it doesn’t fit the template.”

Actually, Limpbaugh, I heard about it at 8:00am this morning on that “left wing bastion”, NPR. But you wouldn’t know that because you only read what fires up your listeners.
