Katrina
Like a war zone; a third world country. That is how New Orleans has been described after Hurricane Katrina. Accounts of hospitals that cannot care for their patients because fuel has run out for the generators - patients are kept alive by “human respirators”, frantically pumping the ambu-bags that force air into patients’ lungs. Human waste and dead bodies float in the city that is six feet below sea level. The worst of human nature takes hold. Citizens arm themselves no doubt thankful for the Second Amendment against looters who don’t seem to care that they have no home, no outlets to plug in the big screen TV they hauled out of Wal-Mart. Somehow it’s right to take what cannot be eaten or worn. The necessities of life - food, clothing, shelter - are apparently not shored up with intelligence, common sense, and reason. A radio moron in the Phoenix area stated that looters should be given a life sentence. When you are “stealing” food, clothing, diapers for your baby you are attempting to stave of a death sentence. If the government can’t or won’t help then you have to help yourself. When you steal a TV you are taking advantage of the situation. (more…)
