Patrick’s Rants

Here We Go!

I was in the middle of trying to upgrade my spam filters on my mail server when a gem popped into my junk mail folder.

Hello, I ran across your entries and I have a few comments. Firstly, I really liked what you had to say about the kids play area in the mall. We take our daughter there frequently and it is always a problem when older kids are too rough with the wee ones. I was glad to see I was not the only one who had a problem with the lack of concern on the parent’s part. Thank you for posting that.

Well, it starts off nicely enough. That’s how these things work.

My second comment has to do with a post you made against me in March. I believe in being fair and accurate in a debate so here are your own words:

Here’s a totally broken password setup - http://naastaraichean.org/
if you click on the image and cancel the password prompt, then delete the
“Password/” in the url you can read the ramblings of a non-web savvy cultist. :)

Now, he goes on to accuse me of “hacking” his site when all I did was follow links from Google <shrug>

First though, let’s take a look at some of the rest of his email. I will respond as I see fit:

I am not a “cultist”, I represent a faith which is valid for those who practice it.

So does Warren Jeffs. (I myself vacillate between no god and pastafarianism)

I am Arul Casmael, leader and founder of Na Astaraichean, a religion which has evolved since it’s unofficial creation and it’s official one in 2005 in Ireland.

And here are the high points

  • Polygamy
  • Boys are not to be circumcised
  • Neither men nor women are to shave
  • No alcohol or tobacco
  • Abortion is murder(*)
  • Picking flowers is murder

*Except in the extreme case where the mother’s life is in danger - and even then let’s think about it.

The locked parts of our website are locked because they are a work in progress and will eventually be made available.

They are “locked” because the content doesn’t stand up to the light of reason. I will again mention that I followed links from Google to the now locked up sections.

He claims he is not a cultist, yet he hides behind the name Arul (which I find synonymous with “Jesus” in the context he uses). Cultists use real and perceived attacks against them as a way to strengthen the resolve of their followers. Arul tells me that he sent an email to his followers that contained the following:

I am sick of being called a cultist. And I am sick of bullies. Whether they be pounding your nose or using technology negatively, they feed on the weakness of others.

That my friends is the rally cry of a cult leader, someone being persecuted for his religious beliefs.

Now as to:

Our site has been attacked twice in the last six months, once which resulted in the loss of a 1200 laptop. I alerted the authorities then, but they did not find anyone, I wonder if you didn’t have something to do with that? You are the only person who has a reason to do it and you certainly have the skill, but i would hope from your ramblings that I know you as a better person than that.

“Our site”. Does he mean web site? Sorry, but this had me rolling on the floor. Not only does Arul not know me (he’s read most of my site(s) from the allusions he makes in his email) but to suggest that

  1. I am the only one who has motive
  2. Somehow I was able to obtain a laptop by doing so

is really over the top. Am I really the only one who had any kind of motive? What about greed? No one has that as a motive anymore? Did I download this supposed 1200 laptop(is that a model number or a dollar amount?) No. I simply made a post on someone else’s web site. Had I managed to download his laptop, I would have obfuscated myself more. As it was, there were “bread crumbs” that allowed him to eventually email me.

Then he attributes quotes that can either be applied to those discussing the scientists working on the atomic bomb or to Star Trek - The Undiscovered Country. It’s paraphrased but can you not hear, “Let us redefine progress to mean that just because we can do a thing, it does not necessarily mean we must do that thing.”? I have a quote of my own: “Once more unto the breach, dear friends.” shortly followed by “Cry ‘Havoc!’…”

Patrick, I am a reasonable person and a moral human being, so I have decided it is best to go to you directly. It is my suggestion that we discuss this, over the phone. I will give you my number and you can call.
I am not a “cultist”, I represent a faith which is valid for those who practice it. The locked parts of our website are locked because they are a work in progress and will eventually be made available. By accessing them, you have violated my privacy and my right to security. Beside this personal attack against myself, from what I have read, you seem to be a reasonable person. To illustrate this I will highlight some words I particularly agree with:

“Their parents are teaching them that the rules don’t matter, to be inconsiderate as long as they themselves are having fun. They are teaching them to not get along in society and that ignorance - the worst possible meaning of the word - is bliss.”

You have attacked me, I believe because you do not know me. That is why I am contacting you, to allow you to understand that I am human, real, flesh and blood and not some faceless, nameless prey for you to hunt. Patrick, you were inconsiderate by accessing my private files, just as you charge those parents with imparting to their children, you were having fun, so where’s the problem? You say that ignorance is bliss, well, I am not very Savvy with computers as you have said, but I do believe there may be some legal grounds that you have overstepped and as such, I would like to know why you have done so? In a private email to my members I have written the following about you:

Tonight I found out that some man named Patrick semi-hacked our website a while back.
He found a loop hole in yahoo’s system which allowed him to bypass the password part
of the front site. Apparently this happened back in March. He writes: you can read the ramblings of a non-web savvy cultist.
I am sick of being called a cultist. And I am sick of bullies. Whether they be pounding your nose or
using technology negatively, they feed on the weakness of others. Anyone who knows me,
knows that I am not tech savvy, so patrick has me on that account, but he is the one who has willingly
invaded my privacy by accessing a part of my website not made for general consumption. Patrick is a bully and the prime example of
what happens when technical skill outbounds moral boundaries. Should I leave a not for him on the front page, his very own road sign? What would it read I wonder: Dear Patrick, I would appreciate it if you
would stay off of my site and keep your hands where they belong. No one asked you to agree with my religion.
I have a right to believe what I want and so do those who join my faith. We are good people trying to change things for the better
in whatever way we can positively. That is more than I can say for people who abuse knowledge.
Le Urram,
Arul Casmael.

Much of what you say on your many sites is inspiring. You champion homosexual rights, as do we. You champion freedom of speach, as do we. You hate the abuses of the current regime, we too, find ourselves living in troubling times. So I can not see how you would condemn us as a cult and violate our private thoughts. I would like to buy you a cup of coffee and work out our differences as civilized people. There is enough room in this word for many people’s views, even disparate ones. That is the difference, patrick, we believe in the rights of people to choose their own path, cultists do
not. If you would like to contact me, I would be glad to meet you at a book store of your choosing to dispel the darkness of ignorance, which is not really bliss. Either way, I would ask you to kindly stay off of all non-public parts of my site, they are my personal property and not for your eyes. I know you have the skill to attack my site, to cripple it, to take what is mine, but I do not fear you, because my mission is one of peace and I simply do not have the room for fear when others need me. I will rap up this rather long introduction now with a few thoughts which are for you free of charge:
The true mark of all evil regimes has been their willingness to use power rather than respect. Said frequently by one of my good friends who suffered in Iraq.
and lastly:

Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.

Now I want to apologise for attaching this quote to you Patrick, because all things considered, I respect many of your views and I would normally have this quote to mean the current dark state of political affairs in this country but what you have done is what you COULD and not what you SHOULD. Your skill as a computer genius should have been held in check by a sense of responsibility. Without respect, power is abuse.
I look forward to hearing from you and truly hope we can get past this. Na Astaraichean has changed many lives, although it has very few members. Remember, respect.
Le Urram,
Arul Casmael.

If you ask me my religion I can tell you, my religion is yearning, in the souls and in the heart and I am one who yearns. That is my religion. I am a son of Creidne, born of love of heaven and earth, between the goddess of the waters and the queen of Ansal. Now Creidne is the mother of all my people. This year is 4838 B.C. which marks the year when the sons and daughters of Creidne were forever sealed. Whoever accepts this seal, they are born, new, into this yearning I have spoken of. Bliadne Creidne, B.C., this is my year, this is my yearning. You ask about my religion, I can tell you.

  2. Knowing how many entertaining things you read on a daily basis I take that as a huge compliment.

  3. As much as I would love to be a second or third wife in a polygamist marriage, subservient, brainless, and bowing down to the every whim of the honorable Arul Casmael, I find that I am undoubtedly unworthy of his attention. Alas, I shall suffer in my monogamous life……. This guy is obviously a joke.
